Ingredients:

Warming pastries

Turn the top oven on (dial to the right with the two lines) and set the temperature to around 130°C. Wait for it to warm which will take around 3 minutes or until the light goes off.

Warming pastries

Put the pastries on a oven tray and into the oven for 5 minutes.

Ingredients:

chicken breast -  1 breast per person depending on meal

Important!

The chicken breast must be defrosted before cooking. You can freeze them in the freezer but take them out the night before you need them to allow them to defrost thoroughly.

In a frying pan

Either chop the chicken up into small pieces.

Or if cooking bigger amounts of chicken slice in half.

For small pieces, fry turning over regularly until cooked.

For bigger pieces cook on one side then the other. To test to see if it's cooked cut it in the middle and check there are no pink bits.

In the oven

Warm the oven to 200°C.

Add a little oil to a baking tray and place the chicken on top. Season anyway you want.

Cook for 20 minutes then cut in half to check its cooked all the way through (not pink inside). If not cooked put it back in the over for another 5 minutes.

In a air fyer

Warm the airfyer up to 200°C and set the timer for 20 minutes.

Spray a little oil at the in the air fryer and add the chicken. Cook and turn half way through.

How should I store chicken leftovers?

Cooked chicken should be put in the fridge in an airtight container as soon as it's cooled, within an hour. Make sure you eat it within 4 days.

Can you warm up cooked chicken?

Yes, you can warm up cooked chicken from your leftovers. You can reheat it in the microwave but not more than once and ensure the chicken is warm all through. Give it a stir half way through.

Can you freeze cooked chicken?

Yes, but only freeze and thaw once. Put your cooked chicken in a container or freezer bag and freeze for up to 4 months. When you want to eat it take it out and let it thaw, ideally overnight then warm all the way through.

Ingredients:

tortilla wraps, tin of Taco beans or mixed beans, pepper (any colour), cheese

Optional:

chicken, chips, tomato salsa, sour cream

If you want to have chicken in this dish cook the chicken first. Cook the a breast of chicken in the air-fryer for 20 minutes on 200 with turn reminder OR if it's a frozen chicken breast 30 minutes. Once cooked chop it up in 2-3cm pieces and put this into a mixing bowl.

Quesadillas

Pour 1 tin of mixed beans into a mixing bowl and mash this up with a fork or masher. Add grated cheese, half a chopped up pepper and the chicken if using, and mix it all together.

Quesadillas

Lay a tortilla wrap on a plate and put the mixture over half the wrap and then fold over. Make two like this.

Quesadillas

Warm a frying pan up and add the wraps to the frying pan. Cooking on one side for 2-3 minutes and then turn over and do the other side.

Quesadillas

Cut each wrap into 2 or 3 pieces and serve with the chips.

Ingredients:

potato, butter, cheese

Optional fillings:
baked beans & cheese
tuna, sweetcorn & mayonnaise
mixed Mexican beans beans
cottage cheese, spring onions & prawns
bacon, hard-boiled eggs & mayonnaise

Jacket Potato

Wash the outside of the potato then prick the outside of the potato with a knife or fork.

Place on a microwaveable plate and place in the microwave on 900 for 6 minutes. If your microwave has less power just cook it for a minute or two longer. Turn the potato over when it's half way through.

While it is in the microwave, warm the oven to 200°C.

When finished in the microwave, place the potato on a baking tray and rub it all around with a little oil.
TIP: Washing-up liquid gets oil off your fingers.

Place in the oven for 10 minutes. Try and turn the potatoes over after 5mins.

When finished transfer to a plate and cut a cross in the top of the potato. Add butter to melt into the potato.

Ingredients:

bread, butter, cheese

Optional fillings: tuna, tomatoes, onion chutney

Cheese Toastie

Butter the bread on one side.

Turn the bread over a place sliced cheese on the side WITHOUT butter. Add any other fillings you may want.

Gently warm the frying pan and place the sandwich with the butter sides on the outside. If you have a lid place this on top, this will just keep the heat in to melt the cheese.

Turn halfway through and cook on the other side.

Mini Fry Up

Ingredients:

frozen (or fresh) sausage, bacon (optional), slice of bread, egg, baked beans

Fry the sausage in a little oil. Turning as it cooks to brown all round. Cook the bacon (optional) at the same time.

Cut the sausage down the middle to insure that it cooks all the way through. Should be fully cooked in 10mins.

Gently warm the baked beans in a small saucepan.

Add a little butter if there is not much oil then add the bread to the frying pan, and cook both sides.

If you have room in the frying pan, crack open and fry an egg. Once it's done on one side, flip over and take the frying pan off the heat.

Let the egg sit for a minute to seal the bottom side and then serve.

Ingredients:

egg, prawns, lettuce, tinned sweetcorn, carrot, cucumber, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup

Measure half a mug of frozen prawns and leave to defrost.

Boil water in a small saucepan and add one egg. Boil for 10mins.

Chop the lettuce.

Add sweetcorn straight from the tin.

Add grated carrot.

Add chopped up cucumber.

When the egg is boiled, tip the water out and add cold water to cool it down. When it's ready to handle tap the egg to brake the shell and take it off.

Rince the egg under the tap to get all the shell off, slice the egg and add to the bowl.

Add the prawns. If they are not yet thawed out, put them in the microwave on a low heat (180) for a minute until they are ready to eat.

In a bowl add 2 big spoons (tablespoons) of mayonnaise and 1 big spoon of tomato ketchup. Mix it up to make a light pink sauce.

Ingredients:

frozen sausages, hot dog roll, ketchup, mustard

Hot Dog

Switch air fryer on. Select Air fry (top left) and change time to 15mins & 200°C. Preheat only, no need to have a turn reminder.

Once the air fryer is ready put two frozen sausages in the tray and just spray with a little oil.

Take out a frozen hot dog roll, place on a plate and microwave on 360 for 1 minute.

Every so often just open the air fryer and shake the drawer, this will turn the sausages. Do this about twice.

Once done place the sausages in the roll and top with ketchup or mustard.

Turn the main oven to 180Ôäâ.

Chop or grate your toppings.

Place the frozen pizza base on a pizza mesh.

Put your your toppings on the pizza.

Place in the oven once the light has gone off for 10mins.

Once the pizza is cooked go round the base with a flat slice to loosen it off the mesh.

Ingredients:

rice -  1/3 of a mug per person

Measure 1/3 of a mug of rice per person.

Boil the water in a saucepan.

Add the rice to the water and cook for 12 minutes.

Stir the rice once a few minutes in to stop it sticking to the bottom.

When the rice is cooked drain the rice.

Sit the colander in the saucepan and place a plate on top to steam the rice. It will separate the grains.

Fluff the rice with a fork to serve.

Stir Fried Rice

Ingredients:
Rice, Optional: Frozen peas, cooked chicken, ham, sweetcorn, onions

Cook the rice as above.

Chop spring onions or onions if using and fry in a hot frying pan or wok with a bit of oil.

3)

Add the cooked rice and fry for 4 to 5 minutes stirring all the time.

Add anything else you would like. Frozen peas, cooked chicken, ham or sweetcorn. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes more.

How should I store rice leftovers?

Cooked rice should be put in the fridge in an airtight container as soon as it's cooled, within an hour. Make sure you eat it within 24 hours.

Can I warm up cooked rice?

Yes, you can warm up cooked rice from your leftovers. You can reheat it in the microwave but not more than once and ensure the chicken is warm throughout.

Can I freeze rice?

Yes. Put the rice in airtight containers and freeze. Defrost the rice in the fridge then reheat (only once) until it's steaming hot before eating.
